Madison – Assembly Speaker-elect, Mike Huebsch (R-West Salem) is naming Representative Kitty Rhoades (R-Hudson) to co-chair the Joint Committee on Finance. Rhoades is the first Assembly Republican woman to chair the powerful budget writing committee. Huebsch says Rhoades will be a voice for the taxpayers on the committee.

Will Kitty get extra pay which will go on her pension, and extra sick days for this assignment?

Will she get on The Joint Committee on Employment Relations (JCoER--pronounced joker) too?

Yea, what do those assembly representatives get paid? What kind of pension do they get?

Assembly representatives get the Wisconsin State Retirement pension just like the teachers and public employees. Plus if you read last weeks Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel it came out that they get sick days, they generally bank them and don't use them, then use them for health insurance credit when they retire. These people who make decisions on pay and retirement benefits, receive them. Then there was the real sneaky bill Tommy Thompson passed when he was leaving, increased the pension for him, Barry Alvarez, and the other high paids. It sucks, these people actually consider this work. I'm sure Kitty will end up with a much better pension then she would have gotten as a professional schmoozing chamber director.

If you want to see who was really raking in the benies, take a look at Harley Dave Zien. On top of his salary
he had the highest per diem expenses by far of any legislator. $28,000 plus. To top it off he was one of the biggest tax whiners. Another OTBL favorite because of conceal and carry and his flag waving antics. Hurray he's gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Conceal and Carry" must include paid sick leave, it was definitely concealed and carried over. Amazing what winning an election can bring these days. Limit terms to two and sick leave becomes a non-factor.

Actually what Tommy and pals did was give themselves a BIG pension bonus and intentionally exclude protective services.

Why do you think Alvarez is sticking around so long?

Wanna really puke? Go to www.jsonline.com and read Doyles comments on the sick leave deal. Somebody needs to fill him in that some elected officials don't necessarily work like the public employees he wants them equal with.

I still think its a shame that an assembly member with 16 years will probably end up with a bigger pension then a guy who has plowed and maintained our roads for thirty years.
