The Rising Cost Of Health Care

"With health care last year taking nearly 11 percent of GNP -- and costs still rising -- what does the future hold? To get some idea, Dr. Virginia Weldon of Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis took an informal poll of 30 colleagues around the country. The majority said medical resources, particularly for the aged, will have to be rationed. If they were making Medicare policy, 70 percent would set up means test and raise the eligibility age. Most would restructure Medicare to pay less for minor illnesses and more for catastrophic ones."
