What Is A Teacher?

In today's church bulletin:

What Is A Teacher?

What is a teacher, if not a mirror in which we perceive the divine image hidden in the soul?

What is a teacher, if not a sower of seed and a cultivator of young gardens?

What is a teacher, if not a shaper of souls and guide who gently shows the right path for the journey?

What is a teacher, if not the most hopeful of dreamers, who plants and nurtures and sees the bright destiny and harvest of the work even when the student cannot?

What is a teacher, if not a shepherd watching over the flock and leading it to abundant pastures?

Dreamers and sharers of dreams, sowers of seed and guides who chart the way, mirrors of goodness and shepherds of grace - it is for these teachers and this ministry that we give abundant thanks to God.

Jesus was a teacher wasn't He? Considering the times He did his teaching and the method of payment to needed to feed and cloth Himself, He was a public supported teacher.

Interesting...

And he did it all without relying on tax dollars or union support!

Actually, I would say Jesus did have union support. He had the Apostles. If you recall the story of the loaves and fishes, he collectively gathered the foundation of the feast from the public and pooled the resources into the means that could take care of the huge crowd. This is very similar to what goes on with taxes and the concept of the "public good."

Hey anonymous. Thank you for you spiritually uplifting comment. I'm sure Jesus thanks you too.
Just one more thought, some of those people Jesus hung out with were tax collectors!.
Here's a few more thoughts from
The Good Book:

Matthew 9:10
It happened as he sat in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Jesus and his disciples.

Matthew 9:11 (Read all of Matthew 9)

When the Pharisees saw it, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

Matthew 11:19
The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is justified by her children. ”

Matthew 21:31
Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said to him, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Most certainly I tell you that the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering into the Kingdom of God before you.

Could Jesus be speaking to you

Doesn't sound like Jesus would last too long either posting and commenting at www.ontheborderline.net.

No Dratsum,
You have to HATE government and socialists to be an OTBLer. Don't think Jesus did that. He'd be out in a day.

Just visiting, but in reviewing the exchange, I'd say "Jesus" wone. By the way anonymous, what did "Jesus" say about paying taxes?
There is an easy answer, it's in the Bible, if you read it that is.
