I've long wondered why the left in this country adamantly refuses to see the linkage between a tidal wave of unregulated, undocumented, and unskilled labor crossing our borders looking any work they can get...and the depressed wage scale at the low end of our labor market.

This is an area where right and left should make common cause. Their reasons may well be different, but who cares - each side sees a public good in supporting the move. That usually makes for good policy.
