The Politics of Chickens
“My theory about politics is that if they will just leave me alone, we’ll do just fine. We pretty much stay home and run chickens.”

It's Going To Be A Bright, Sun Shiny Day!

"No very deep knowledge of economics is usually needed for grasping the immediate effects of a measure; but the task of economics is to foretell the remoter effects, and so to allow us to avoid such acts as attempt to remedy a present ill by sowing the seeds of a much greater ill for the future."
Ludwig von Mises

Wall Street Hold Up

"This is a nation of inconsistencies. The Puritans fleeing from oppression became oppressors. We fought England for our liberty and put chains on four million of blacks. We wiped out slavery and our tariff laws and national banks began a system of white wage slavery worse than the first.
Money rules, and our Vice-President is a London banker. Our laws are the output of a system which clothes rascals in robes and honesty in rags. The [political] parties lie to us and the political speakers mislead us. We were told two years ago to go to work and raise a big crop, that was all we needed. We went to work and plowed and planted; the rains fell, the sun shone, nature smiled, and we raised the big crop that they told us to; and what came of it? Eight-cent corn, ten-cent oats, two-cent beef and no price at all for butter and eggs-that's what came of it.
The politicians said we suffered from overproduction. Overproduction, when 10,000 little children, so statistics tell us, starve to death every year in the United States, and over 100,000 shopgirls in New York are forced to sell their virtue for the bread their niggardly wages deny them... We want money, land and transportation. We want the abolition of the National Banks, and we want the power to make loans direct from the government. We want the foreclosure system wiped out... We will stand by our homes and stay by our fireside by force if necessary, and we will not pay our debts to the loan-shark companies until the government pays its debts to us.
The people are at bay; let the bloodhounds of money who dogged us thus far beware."

Don't Tread on the ACLU
The American Civil Liberties Union says it's backing an Arizona man against a homeowner association rule against flying the Gadsden Flag in front of his house.
Andy McDonel says he put up the coiled snake banner bearing the slogan "Don't Tread on Me" this year as a tribute to the military and Founding Fathers, The Arizona Republic reported Wednesday.
The flag's history traces back to an illustrated comment printed in 1751's Pennsylvania Gazette by Benjamin Franklin that the American colonies should send rattlesnakes to England. Franklin suggested it as a symbol for America describing it as "an emblem of magnanimity and true courage," the Web site FoundingFathers.info said.
The image of the coiled snake morphed over the years and in 1775 settled into its present incarnation, which has become an emblem for the Tea Party Movement, the newspaper said.

“The question we Americans need to address, before it is answered for us, is: Does this First World nation wish to become a Third World country? Because that is our destiny if we do not build a sea wall against the waves of immigration rolling over our shores…Who speaks for the Euro-Americans, who founded the USA?…Is it not time to take back America?”

Stomaching Ayn Rand

A film adaptation of the 1957 novel Atlas Shrugged, by Ayn Rand, is now showing in couple of theaters across the nation. The release of the film has coincided with a resurgence of popularity for Rand on the American Right.
The trailer for Atlas Shrugged had its world premier at this year’s CPAC conference, the Tea Party group FreedomWorks has rolled out a massive campaign to promote the film, and the story’s opening line — “Who is John Galt?” — has appeared on numerous signs at Tea Party rallies.

Paul Rand, Ron Rand, Ru Paul, Whatever Meet Ayn Ryan
Some of the right’s leading political and media lights have heaped praise upon Ayn Rand. The author of the Republicans’ new budget plan to gut Medicare and Medicaid, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), has said Rand is the reason he entered politics, and requires his staff to read her work. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) have both declared themselves devotees of her writing. Conservative Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has his law clerks watch the film adaptation of Rand’s book The Fountainhead. She’s also received accolades from right-wing pundits Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, John Stossel, and Andrew Napolitano.
During her lifetime, Rand advocated “the virtue of selfishness,” declared altruism to be “evil,” opposed Medicare and all forms of government support for the middle-class and the poor, and condemned Christianity for advocating love and compassion for the less fortunate.

The Pending Muslim Brotherhood Apocalypse
"Kiss my black, Muslim-American ass."
NEW YORK - A Georgia woman has claimed responsibility for sending a severed pig's foot to Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) earlier this month, apparently in protest over a hearing he held on radical Islam. Jacquelyn Barnette, who described herself as Muslim, told the New York Post Thursday that she sent King the package, which also contained an anti-Semitic note. The US Postal Service intercepted the package before it ever reached King's office. "I thought the letters explain themselves," Barnette said. Asked about her comments, King told FOX News she "seems to be a disturbed person." "I'll let the police decide how to deal with her. I don't want to do anything to encourage her or others like her," he said. In March, King held high-profile congressional hearings on Islamic radicalization in the US, saying he aimed to confront the threat of homegrown extremism. Though the note contained anti-Semitic messages, King is not Jewish. The note also reportedly told King to "kiss my black, Muslim-American ass." Read more...
