All In The Family

"For too long, this country has wandered in darkness, and we have wandered in darkness in periods from the beginning. We have had moments of brilliance and moments of darkness. But this country has spent far too long worried about scars and thinking about the scars and concentrating on the scars. Today, we are going to concentrate on the good things in America, the things that we have accomplished - and the things that we can do tomorrow. The story of America is the story of humankind...America today begins to turn back to God."

"God made dinosaurs 4,000 years ago as ultimately flawed creatures, lizards of Satan really, so when they died and became petroleum products we, made in his perfect image, could use them in our pickup trucks, snow machines and fishing boats.

Now, as to the ANWR, Todd and I often enjoying caribou hunting and one year we shot up a herd big time, I mean I personally slaughtered around 40 of them with my new, at the time, custom Austrian hunting rifle. And guess what? That caribou herd is still around and even bigger than ever. Caribou herds actually need culling, be it by rifles or wolves, or Exxon-Mobil oil rigs, they do just great!"

Sarah Palin

"Thus inwardly armed with confidence in God and the unshakable stupidity of the voting citizenry, the politicians can begin the fight for the 'remaking' of the Reich as they call it."

Adolf Hitler

"On this earth you must belong to the church militant or get the hell out of it. That's the right word. You're either with me or against me' There is no middle ground in this battle between Christ and the anti-Christ."

Father Coglin

“One of these days the people of Louisiana are going to get good government - and they aren't going to like it.”

Huey Long

Sunny,

That Palin quote is fake, don'tcha know. You can check it out on Snopes.com. You betcha.

And if you're bent on quoting crazy, politically-warped preachers, don't forget about President Obama's pastor of 20 years - Jeremiah "God Damn America" Wright, or Louis "The Jews don't like Farrakhan, so they call me Hitler. Well, that's a good name. Hitler was a very great man." Farrakhan. Those two are eminently quotable - and better fit your theme as well.

Sure that Palin quote is faked. Everybody knows it was 6,000 years ago that God made dinosaurs. Palin knows that...

I think the Reverend Wright was right on with his "God damn America" quote. I am proud to live in a country that allows its citizens to stand up and tell it like they see it. Don't forget Bill Ayers. I think he actually held the bottle when they began feeding the Whitey-hating, baby Obama the milk of socialism.

Louis Farrakan isn't a liberal. WHy are you dragging him into the discussion. RK, I've been running this blog for over six years and we always stick with the spirit of the topic at hand. You can't bounce around like a ping-pong ball on a ice covered road in a blizzard.

Depending on how you define "great," Hitler was a great man. Infamous v. famous...I wouldn't say Hitler was a great man, but I'm sure there are people who would...like Farrakhan. Lots of black people will tell you Farrakhan is on crazy nigger. Dr. Laura might even tell you that on her show...or what's left of it.

Did you read The Autobiography of Malcolm X? I thought that was an enlightening book. I think Malcolm got it right when he said the chickens came home to roast when Kennedy got assassinated. Of course, I knew nothing about MX in November 1963, as a third grader. But like 9/11, our policies and actions around the world and at home can have negative consequences. I wonder how many thousands of innocent people have died in Iraq and Afghanistan because of America's need for a cheap flow of oil?

From CNN transcripts:

JOE JOHNS, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Straight from the Internet which brought you the relentless rumor, completely false, that Barack Obama is a Muslim. Now it's Sarah Palin who's getting misrepresented with bogus quotes and facts.

Here's one quote attributed to Palin that we found posted by readers in the comments section of at least three mainstream political news Websites.

"God made dinosaurs 4,000 years ago as ultimately flawed creatures, lizards of Satan, really. So when they died and became petroleum products, we, made in his perfect image, could use them in our pickup trucks."

Lizards of Satan? It's a pure fabrication. Palin never said it. It was totally made up by a guy named Bob who put it on his blog as a joke. How do we know that?

BOB SALISBURY, OLYMPIA WASHINGTON BLOGGER: My name is Bob Salisbury, and I'm a blogger.

JOHNS: We talked to Bob via the Internet and he admits it.

SALISBURY: I did, I made all of them up one morning, wrote it in about 10, 15 minutes, just threw it up there and figured my usual 20 or so regular readers would see it. I had no idea what was going to happen.
