Turnip Truck Takes Road Trip To New Richmond

Word on the street is that the Hudson turnip truck is loaded with bags of peanuts. It's believed the peanuts will be used to entice people to vote.

CATO Institute: Making crazy ideas desireable, daily.

Private-Account Concept Grew From Obscure Roots
By Jeffrey H. Birnbaum
Washington Post Staff Writer
Tuesday, February 22, 2005; Page A01
Twenty-five years ago, Peter J. Ferrara was a Harvard Law School student with what he called "the craziest idea in the world." In a paper he wrote before graduating, he suggested converting the government-run Social Security program into a web of private investments.
The paper caught the eye of Edward H. Crane, a former head of the Libertarian Party who had recently started the Cato Institute, which has a stated mission of encouraging "limited government." To him, Ferrara's idea wasn't crazy at all, but a way to challenge Washington's largest and most revered social program.

Change is good -- even on the borderline!
Regular followers of the St. Croix Valley bolg scene will have noticed by now that the On The Borderline blog that oozes out of Hudson has made a few changes in its layout and focus.
The entire visual look of the blog has been updated to reflect the only colors they understand: black and white. Anonymous names have disappeared from the posts to further protections of the guilty.
The whole focus of the blog seems to have switched to New Richmond. One reason is that good citizens of the Hudson community have totally rejected their anti-community agenda of personal attacks and misinformation. Evidently they think there's a niche for them in New Richmond. Likewise, they have run off some of their former members by attacking any local Republican for supporting anything would help the local communities grow and prosper. They've attack State Senator Shelia Harsdorf and State Rep. Kitty Rhoades, calling them RINOs (Republicans in name only). I guess you can eat only so much of your own before you reach the tipping point that sinks you to the bottom of the cesspool of rejection.
We will still continue to monitor the OTBL blog and to make sure the local communities are updated on their anti-community antics. It's been our job here since day one. Our mission of "riding herd on the skunks in the St. Croix Valley" still stands. They might have changed the color of their underwear, but the skid marks still show through.
For those who haven't visited their site yet, here's a look at the changes that have taken place...a before and after look.
As you'll recall, this is what the OTBL blog looked like prior to the changes last week:
Here's the new look of the OTBL blog:

WHAT IS BEHIND THE ALARMISM OVER GLOBAL WARMING?

Well there you have it!
People who want to stop Global Warming really want to destroy America.
The Bible tells us so! Oh did I forget to mention "Most importantly, it is Satan's Attempt to Re-direct the Church's Primary Focus" Jerry Falwell.

Need a Wing-Nut Companion?

Right-Wing extremist blogging is tough work. Finding lengthy Marxist propaganda to embarrass your blogging competitors with can sometimes become a burden. Worst of all, Right-Wing extremist blogging can get down-right lonely. Think of all the hours spent alone doing research on those slacking "public servants" just to find some small indiscretion. The lonely hours of filling out requests for information. And the untold days of typing away past midnight to make the world aware of moral bankruptcy of all those slurping away at the public
trough. Wouldn't it be great to have someone to share these precious moments with?
Well now you can. OTBL escort services has combed the internet and the world (especially
Russia )for Hot Babes that share your passion harassing school boards and attacking public officials. And all at a very modest price.
Take Natash for example:
"I like early evening strolls to school board meetings, and late night blogging
attacks on my left wing political enemies.
And I love Wealth Building, if I didn't I you wouldn't be reading about me now.
Mention Taxes, and my hair stands on end. There's nothing more arousing than
plotting the destruction of Tax and Spenders. For a romantic evening, picture the
two of us wrapped together in the Star and Bars.
If you share these interests, I'm dying to spend time with you ( for a price )".
Call the WingLine tonight 1-800-Wingnut and ask for me, Natasha! Big Boy.

Meeting N.Onimous's Requests

OTBL keeps making requests of the ATBL Cartoon Network , and we keep
delivering!
OTBL blooger resently made the following cartoon request:
" maybe a picture of his wife [the teacher] with a rolling pin bashing Bob
over the head and yelling, "Anti-education creep!"
Well, we tried, but Bob's wife [ the teacher, an excellent one, I might add ] is against violence (and besides, she's camera shy). So we did the next best thing. We asked Luke's wife to
stand in and she did so most graciously.

"Maybe a picture of Bob and the kids sitting in front of Newton Field exclaiming, 'damn public education?'"
"Educate and inform the whole mass of the people. Enable them
to see that it is their interest to preserve peace and order, and
they will preserve them. And it requires no very high degree of
education to convince them of this. They are the only sure
reliance for the preservation of our liberty."

First Robin
This morning, when I left the house to get into my car to drive to work, it was obvious that spring had arrived. I saw my first robin a couple days ago. I heard red wing black birds yesterday afternoon while walkikng in Mary Park. The grackles were making their scissor-bird sound and it felt good.
It was a treat to the sound of Mother Nature's poetry. It was good. To celebrate, here's a poem by Kay Dee Ward titled "First Robin."

I saw my first robin
Of springtime today
Out on the lawn
Looking dazed and dismayed
Shivering with cold
On this late winter day
Wondering dismally
If he'd lost his way
Taken a wrong turn
In his long Northern flight
Instead of a left
Mayhap he'd turned to the right
And come to this cold and
Forbidding dark place
Without any warmth of
The sun on its face
The winter's been long
And dreadfully cold
So dear little robin
If I may be so bold
You're most welcome here
As the first sign of spring
With grand celebration
Let all the bells ring

All play and no work makes Luke a dull boy

Drivers’ heading into New Richmond on Wisconsin Route 65 from the south probably noticed this license plate on a car parked by a large sign on the property to be purchased with voters approval of a $93 million referendum ballot question on April 3. A tentative purchase price of $3.3 million for the 110 acres land has been agreed to by the District staff and the seller.

Blogs Of The St. Croix Valley -- An Introduction
Welcome bloggers from around the world! It's hard to believe that the St. Croix River Valley of the Wisconsin-Minnesota borderland is ground zero of the rapidly expanding blog phenomena. Like everything you read on blogs, this is definitely true. To get you familiar with the blogs of the SCV, we thought we'd start this new feature with a introduction to the evil and ugly step sister of the SCV blogs -- On The Border Whine.
Operated out of a damp basement in Hudson's "skunk hollow," this blog has prided itself with attracting a wide variety of posters and comments. When ask what he attributed his blog's ability to draw such a wide variety of viewers, blog admin Killbore said it is probably the fact that so many prisons now have Internet access. He said that prisons are choosing his blog to be the startup page for their Internet portal. Prison officials hope this, plus porn-blocking filters, will have a calming effect on prisoners. When asked to explain this, one prison official say the theory is that, if the OTBL blog can numb viewers' brains so effectively, they figure it may numb other sensitive areas of the body.
Below is shot of a typical post on the On The Border Whine blog. Notice the nice picture of a river. Readers will quickly see the post titled “The moderate left–warning X rated” by Bob Ziller makes little or no sense to anyone who has passed eight grade with the minimal amount of effort. Ziller mentions a JPN. This is a blogger who operates another blog in the SCV. That blog, AboveTheBorderLine, is known for taking the "high road." Instead of slandering local community members, dedicated public servants and local reporters making less money that workers at the local MacDonald's, the ATBL blog is know for providing useful, interesting, heart warming posts that delight readers of all ages and political persuasions. More on that blog later.
(Double-click the pictures to expand for readability)
Of course, hip bloggers know that any good post will generate an excess of insightful, intelligent discussion. It doesn't take long to realize there are no hig bloggers on the OTBW membership roles. Discussion comes in the form comments to the post. The OTBW blog generates a great deal of discussion of the variety you would find on a audio tape loop. In the true spirit of the maxim "Sometimes even a blind squirrel finds a nut," an intelligent comment is accidently posted on the OTBW blog site. Below are the comments that have been made so far to Mr. Z's post. With the exception of the hyper-intelligent comment by dratsum (that's "mustard" spelled backwards), the comments to this post are similar to comments commonly found on OTBW posts.
We hope you found this post helpful. We explore more of the St. Croix Valley blogosphere in future postings. Please feel free to leave you comments below.

The Battle of Boondoggle staring Mr. Peanut

Self-proclaimed "resident slacker freak" Luke the Blogger finds someone new to roam Boondoggle with in the form of self-proclaimed "social commentator and stay-at-home crank" O. Nonimous. Sarcasm and humor abounds. Kowboy Kurt, Lil Bill and Dr. Spiritmynutsitch finally get McJobs in the fast food industry. This leads to the world's record in shortest careers. Meanwhile Mr. Keebler and company arrive just in time for drive thru service as the chaos erupts inside the OTBL hot tub. The calm of the spring Boondoggle night is shattered when a hold-up attempt by a duct-tape encased jogger wearing a pink headband goes awry, thanks to the chaotic intervention of the robber's unintended hostage: a hyperactive, cigar-smoking six-year old named Boobbie O'Stickit.
Mr. Peanut reminds you to "think less and cut-n-paste more."

How to diffuse a blog bomb
By Nora Carr
Thanks to the proliferation of blogs on the internet, cyberspace is becoming an increasingly popular forum for would-be political critics and journalists to express their displeasures with state and local officials, including school board members. But, as eSchool News columnist Nora Carr points out in her latest column, elected officials who take offense to such commentary on public blogs should weigh their options carefully before going on the offensive.
March 16, 2007—A venerated public relations mantra goes something like this: "Never get in an argument with people who buy their ink by the barrel." With the advent of the internet, it's time for an update: "Never get in an argument with a blogger."
Just ask Lawrence, N.Y., school board trustee Pamela Greenbaum, who recently asked the Manhattan Supreme Court to force Google Inc. to reveal the identity of an anonymous blogger called Orthomom.
Reportedly an Orthodox Jewish housewife who lives on Long Island, Orthomom regularly tackles school district and community issues on her blog.
The blog unabashedly supports the rights of private school parents and the conservative--and growing--Jewish community.

Tearing down public education is hard work. It takes strength and

Like any good business ontheborderline.nyet knows the competitive advantage outsourcing can bring to the bottom line.
Local officials trying to pick your pocket with school referendums? School board elections coming up and you need a concerned citizen stooge to represent you, the taxpayer? Look no further. Rent a Thug is your answer (Results Guaranteed )!
The next time you need intimidation of School Board Members and other pesky educrates, forget the "do it yourself amatuer approach", Check out our "Rent A Thug" program instead. It's fun, it's easy, and it won't cost you an arm and a leg. Just choose the and appropriate level of Thugary and payment plan right for your budget.
Call our advisors (midnight's a good time ) at 1-800-Thugs R'Us or visit us on the web at www.ontheborderline.nyet.ru.

Actually, corporations aren't the root of all evil...
As always, there is confusion over at ontheborderline.net. They are thinking someone on associated with this blog thinks that corporations are the root of all evil. Of course that's nonsense, but it gives them a chance to call someone who doesn't buy their colostomy bag of misinformation a "communist." Always remember: you can always tell an ontheborderline.net blogger, you just can't tell him much.
The correct answer is "the love of money is the root of all evil."
"No, it's not. In fact that line does not appear in the Bible, rather it is a misquoted cliche. The Good Book actually states, "For the love of money is the root of all evil." (Timothy 6:10). There is quite a difference."
Modern society is corrupted by the lust for money, money, money BY Ronan McSherry
"I believe being an American is more then looking to make money at the expense of others and hope we can all take a look at the morality of our own professions, investments, purchases and lifestyles to make the country better. And this is hardly news - one need only look as far as the first book ever printed to see the abandoned ancient wisdom that says "Love of money is the root of all evil".
Read: Are your investments killing America? by Gustav Wynn.

Hudson High School: Fix sought for overcrowding
There's a interesting story in today's St. Paul Pioneer Press about the overcrowding at Hudson High Scool and what to do about it. It will be interesting to see what the blind-leading-the-deaf have to say about it at the ontheborderline.net blog. It's always important to get the OTBL cowboy's anti-community perspective. One thing you can count on is that between everyline posted over there, the implied chant is "it's my way or the highway...it's my way of the highway..."
It must be interesting for a person to go through life telling people "You seem to be an intelligent person. It's too bad you can't see things the right way -- my way."

Hudson / Fix sought for high school's crowding
District working to relocate administrators
BY KEVIN HARTER
Pioneer Press
Faced with an increasingly overcrowded high school, Hudson School District administrators are focusing on moving out to make way for additional classrooms.
Moving the 25 school administrators and staff out of the wing they now occupy at the high school would free up enough space for seven classrooms. But where the offices would move to remains undecided as three options remain under consideration.
In the coming weeks, district Superintendent Mary Bowen-Eggebraaten said, the school board likely will choose between moving into rented trailers, leasing office space somewhere in town or buying a building to move into.
A special community meeting will then be scheduled, possibly in April.

A "Secret" Government: Nothing New Here
A friend sent me a link to the 1987 Bill Moyers documentary "The Secret Government: The Constitution in Crisis." Watching this refreshes the memory about what we are witnessing in Iraq, in the Justice Department, the FBI and throughout the slog of the Bush presidency. It gets scary when the wheels come off the war wagon. It gets icky when you lift up an old board out in a field and put the light of day on the creepy thinks lurking underneath.
This is the full length 90 min. version of Bill Moyer's 1987 scathing critique of the criminal subterfuge carried out by the Executive ... all » Branch of the United States Government to carry out operations which are clearly contrary to the wishes and values of the American people. The ability to exercise this power with impunity is facilitated by the National Security Act of 1947. The thrust of the exposé is the Iran-Contra arms and drug-running operations which flooded the streets of our nation with crack cocaine. The significance of the documentary is probably greater today in 2007 than it was when it was made. We now have a situation in which these same forces have committed the most egregious terrorist attack on US soil and have declared a fraudulent so-called "War on Terror". The ruling regime in the US who have conducted the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, are now banging the war drum against Iran. We have the PATRIOT act which has stripped us of many of our basic civil rights justified by the terror of 9/11 which is their own doing.
Watch the full show (90 minutes).

"Trickle Down" Economics -- Nothing New Here

“From 1946 to 1961 we thought in terms of dollars rather than of people. We thought in terms of gross national product rather than in terms of gross national product one that Herbert Hoover employed in 1930. By pouring in money on the top, we hoped that some would reach the bottom. But in feudal societies the few at the top kept practically all of it. Millions were stolen and banked aboard. What was not stolen was used to entrench those who already owned and controlled the nation.”

Chavez & Bush: A "Domino" Theory
CARACAS, Venezuela — Hugo Chavez has called President Bush a devil, a donkey and a drunkard. But on Wednesday the Venezuelan leader said his comments were "nothing personal."
Chavez, who had stepped up his verbal assault during Bush's Latin American tour this week, suggested that the two adversaries might eventually overcome their differences and even play a game of dominos or baseball together.
"One day, if maybe George Bush and I survive all of this, we will reach old age, and it would be good to play a game of dominos, street baseball," Chavez said on his weekday radio program.
But he said his comments about the American leader were "nothing personal" and that his opposition to Bush was due to "deep ethical, political, historic and geopolitical" reasons. Chavez has fiercely opposed U.S.-backed free trade policies and criticized the Bush administration's handling of Iraq and other foreign policy decisions.
Chavez said Bush was part of a long line of elitist U.S. administrations that have become accustomed to abusing the rest of the world, acting unilaterally and violating human rights. He also taunted the U.S. leader for skirting questions about Chavez during his Latin American tour in the past week, comparing him to a matador avoiding the bull with his cape.
"The president of the United States takes out his cape as always, Ole!, because he doesn't want to respond" to pointed issues raised by the Venezuelan leader, Chavez said.
Bush on Wednesday completed a tour of Mexico, Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia and Guatemala. Chavez went on something of a shadow tour of Bush's trip over the same period, visiting several regional nations including Argentina, where he led thousands in an anti-bush rally.

26 ways to be a good Republican...

1. You have to be against a woman’s right to choose, but support the murder of thousands by air strike.
2. You have to believe that a shopping mall is better than a backyard, as long as it’s not YOUR backyard.
3. You have to believe that guns in the hands of drug dealers and gang-bangers are less of a threat than countries that have never fired a weapon at Americans here in America.
4. You have to believe that there were no airlines before Federal funding, tax breaks and kickbacks.
5. You have to believe that global temperatures are more permanently affected by natural changes in the earth's climate than billions of tons of waste gasses pumped into the atmosphere by coal and natural gas power plants.
6. You have to believe that the sex of someone else’s spouse is actually your business, but your adultery isn’t anyone else’s business.
7. You have to believe that the AIDS epidemic cannot be slowed with the assistance of the Federal government.
8. You have to believe that the teacher who can't teach 4th-graders how to read is doing a great job.
9. You have to believe that hunters care about nature because the 10-point rack on the wall shows their commitment to it.
10. You have to believe that things magically happen even if you have no self-esteem.
11. You have to believe that Mel Gibson made The Passion Of The Christ because Christ died for our sins and not to gain notoriety.
12. You have to believe the ACLU is bad because it supports certain parts of the Constitution, but the NRA is good because it supports certain parts of the Constitution.
13. You have to believe that taxes are too high and the deficit, trade gap and unemployment levels are too low.
14. You have to believe that Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh are more important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, John F. Kennedy, and Thomas Edison.
15. You have to believe that standardized tests are not racist, but racial quotas and set-asides are.
16. You have to believe that George W. Bush is normal and is a smart, well-spoken person with no hidden agendas.
17. You have to believe that a representative democratic republic will work for everyone, regardless of belief, history or ideology and that it’s okay to kill a considerable percentage of them to bring it to them.
18. You have to believe that a President having consensual sex with another adult is far worse than a President who’s eager to send our children off to get killed in a war that isn’t a war to find weapons that didn’t exist.
19. You have to believe that Christmas and Easter were originally Christian holidays and not co-opted seasonal festivals of Pagans.
20. You have to believe that changing the rules of the Senate and the Ethics Committee to protect Republican Senators is somehow in the best interest to the United States.
21. You have to believe that we actually went to war in Iraq to find WMDs because they were a clear and present threat to the United States.
22. You have to believe that Republican backed special interest groups didn't finance The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, they got the idea and money on their own.
23. You have to believe Bill Clinton getting a blowjob in the Oval Office is appalling, but Newt Gingrich serving his wife with divorce papers on her deathbed is A-OK.
24. You have to believe in defending the sanctity of marriage except when it’s a husband trying to fulfill his wife’s wish in ending her life.
25. You have to feel that marriage is sacrosanct and inviolate while ignoring the fact that 61% of Catholics get divorced and another 7% get their marriages annulled.
You have to believe that what John Kerry did 30 years ago is important, but what George W. Bush didn't do 30 years ago isn't.
26. You have to believe that this message was authored by a left-wing pinko socialist bleeding heart liberal.

Hudson's Hyper-Fanatical Conspiracy Bloggers Moving To Long Island
Former Hudson school superintendent has offered to pay for the first 157 miles of their relocation...HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. -- A failure by the state to audit school district records for nearly three decades has resulted in another scandal, this time involving the misappropriation of nearly $8 million from a suburban district, state Comptroller Alan Hevesi said Monday.
The latest accusations involve the William Floyd district in Suffolk County, where an audit uncovered $6.4 million in inappropriate spending, including instances where the superintendent increased salaries for himself and nine other administrators over several years without school board approval, Hevesi said. That's besides $1.5 million that former William Floyd administrators admitted stealing last year.
The scandal is the latest in a series involving Long Island school districts. There have been arrests in seven districts, including William Floyd, since an audit of the Roslyn school district two years ago found that more than $11 million was stolen from its treasury. Six people have pleaded guilty in that case.

Treasury Chief Tells Business Leaders That Regulations Have Had Positive Results

WASHINGTON — Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson said Tuesday a balance must be struck between ensuring the competitiveness of financial markets and protecting investors.
Paulson addressed a gathering of top business leaders and former government officials. The conference followed months of campaigning by American business for an easing of laws and regulations established after the Enron debacle.
Paulson said the laws and regulations have been, "extensive and significant, so it is quite naturally taking time for companies to understand, process and implement the new rules and requirements."
However, he said, "the principles behind them have been positive, as have many of the results."
Panelists included billionaire investor Warren Buffett, General Electric Co. Chairman Jeffrey Immelt, brokerage founder and CEO Charles Schwab, former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Paulson and Christopher Cox, the chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, are serving as moderators.

Family Values Hypocrite Enters White House Race

"Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich was having an extramarital affair even as he led the charge against then-President Clinton over the Monica Lewinsky affair, he acknowledged in an interview with a conservative Christian group."
"Gingrich, who frequently campaigned on family values, divorced his second wife, Marianne, in 2000 after his attorneys acknowledged Gingrich's relationship with his current wife, Callista Bisek, a former congressional aide more than 20 years his junior."
Full Story:
"Gingrich argued in the interview, however, that he should not be viewed as a hypocrite for pursuing Clinton's infidelity."

"That a person like (Bush), with the persecution of our migrant brothers in the United States, with the wars he has provoked, is going to walk in our sacred lands, is an offense for the Mayan people and their culture."

Priests To Purify Site After Bush Visit
(AP) GUATEMALA CITY Mayan priests will purify a sacred archaeological site to eliminate "bad spirits" after President Bush visits next week, an official with close ties to the group said Thursday.
"That a person like (Bush), with the persecution of our migrant brothers in the United States, with the wars he has provoked, is going to walk in our sacred lands, is an offense for the Mayan people and their culture," Juan Tiney, the director of a Mayan nongovernmental organization with close ties to Mayan religious and political leaders, said Thursday.
Bush's seven-day tour of Latin America includes a stopover beginning late Sunday in Guatemala. On Monday morning he is scheduled to visit the archaeological site Iximche on the high western plateau in a region of the Central American country populated mostly by Mayans.

Climate change – Spreading the environmental gospel

Surprising alliances are forming as evangelical groups join the fight to save what they consider God’s creation In January, a group of evangelical Christians and scientists announced they would work together to persuade US political, church and scientific leaders to act to curb climate change. It is an unlikely marriage between two camps diametrically opposed on the circumstances of the earth’s creation but willing to collaborate to save it from destruction.

16-year old home-schooled blogger gets and gives notice

The March/April 2007 issue of Mother Jones magazine has an excellent article on an Alabama homeschooler whose antiwar videos get 30, hits a day. It's inspiring story that should be shared with your kids and students.
Read the full article: Are You There George? It's Me Ava.

Maybe Ann Clouter Should Enlisted?
It's always interesting to see Ann Clouter put on the spot for her the babbling stupidity that drools from the manure covered fangs in her mouth. Of course, her pay check depends on vomiting up rancid chunks of redneck conservative spew. Without the slack-jawed, Deliverance-doubles who think she lick up her spew, the calluses on her knees would be much more noticeable.

Maybe Dennis Miller should enlisted?
You would think the Marines could use at least one comic who isn't funny enough to get paid to be a comic. Or maybe Miller's room-temperature IQ is needed state side to bring the intelligence level above freezing.
Meanwhile, down in Alabama, a 16-year old girl named Ava is putting together pictures that put Miller's always forgettable words on mute.
